We are Herman van Linschoten and Julia Schlösser.
For many years, we were active together on the Baltic Sea – as owners, captain, and crew of several traditional Dutch sailing ships. With our guests, we shared wind, waves, and countless adventurous and beautiful moments – a time in which we gained extensive experience as hosts.
In 2023, we changed course and both emigrated to Madeira – in search of a place where we could continue our passion for life by the sea and for hospitality.
Here, just above Porto da Cruz, a small and quiet village on the northeast coast of Madeira, we have found our oasis. Surrounded by green mountain slopes and overlooking the vast Atlantic Ocean, you can enjoy a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere, close to nature and far from mass tourism. From the terrace, a unique and spectacular view unfolds over the sea all the way to Porto Santo – a panorama that shines in a different light every day..
The Villa
Our modern, light-filled loft apartment has been fully renovated and features an open-plan design. The kitchen, dining, and living areas blend seamlessly and open through large French doors onto the terrace, offering direct views of the surrounding nature and the sea. Even from the kitchen, you can enjoy a stunning panoramic view.
The luxury bathroom includes a walk-in shower and a jacuzzi bathtub. The apartment has two spacious bedrooms for up to six guests: a master bedroom with a double bed and TV, and a family room with a double bed plus a bunk bed.
Outside, enjoy a cozy terrace with a stone barbecue, comfortable seating, and a large outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the sea. The center of Porto da Cruz, with its cafés, restaurants, and promenade, is only a few minutes’ drive away. Madeira Airport is about 15–20 minutes by car, offering a convenient yet tranquil location surrounded by nature.
